and Cllr Sarah Dennis

Minutes

The minutes of the meeting on 21st November  were agreed and signed.

Matters arising

Wall damage

The District council as now agreed that £1437 should be accepted as the portion paid by the parish council for the repair to the wall at Oak View. Albion Stonemasons have been informed and the work should start within the next month to take down the buttresses and rebuild the wall.

Footpath to South Newton

The Rights of way officer has informed us that Wiltshire County Council is working to designate the new footpath as the official right of way but the perimeter path will be retained. Wilton estate will maintain the path and there are no cost implications for the parish.

Contractors are to be sent back to complete work on the ditch as it is again flooded. It has been agreed that a digger needs to be used to clear the original ditch, with a gradient that will allow the water to flow into the river at Cobbs Mill.

Wilton Estate

The parish council agreed to allow £100 to support  the application for grant aid being made by Wilton Estate to repair the barn in the Oak Apple field.

Mr Rolfe has asked Mr Helyer for a Wiltshire gate to replace the fencing at the permissive bridleway to Grovely Woods.

General business

The planning application for Staddlestones, Station Road was discussed and observations have been mailed to the planning officer. All applications for building work in the parish can be viewed at www.salisbury.gov.uk/planning and there will be a link to this site in the village website at www.greatwishford.co.uk

The parish magazine is in need of greater financial support and has asked for the annual subscription to be increased. This was discussed and agreed in principle but the sum to be offered will be decided in the next meeting.

Other Business

There is still much concern about the state of the bank on the C10 to Wilton. From the 30mph sign for about 50 yards the bank is eroded and cars are having difficulty passing. Pedestrians are in danger of falling in the river if they step aside to let traffic past. Reflective posts have been put lower down and plastic bollards mark the gap. A more permanent solution is needed.

Coloured walkways were suggested as a solution to the danger to pedestrians on Station Road hill.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.00pm
